A common question we hear a lot is: "How can you separate Joseph from The Book of Mormon?" Mormon's don't know this, but early on, Joseph tried to separate himself from The Book of Mormon by selling the copyright. He was not successful in that endeavor, so he started a church instead. Question: Mormons should ask themselves what would have happened to The Book of Mormon if Joseph succeeded in selling the copyright? Answer: People would not have had to show their faith in it by joining his church. The Book would have gone freely - like the Bible - to the world with no strings attached.
